Surprise Car Wash Engagement

As the confetti was still falling at the Fiserv Forum in the wake of the Milwaukee Bucks winning their first championship in 50 years, two Wisconsinsites decided that it wasn’t going to just be the basketball team that received a ring this year.

The only difference for Erick Frey and Julia Framstad is that theirs would be coming in a Kwik Trip car wash.

Erick and Julia met while he was home on leave from being stationed in Texas for the military, and he said they’ve always been open about the engagement and proposal with a goal to make it happen within a certain time frame.

Not being the type to do a proposal in front of a bunch of people and seeking a more private moment, Erick said that the couple’s second date location became part of the plan.

He said Julia took him to Store 580’s car wash on their second date, and it became a special spot for the couple.

On the night of July 21st, as the Bucks were still celebrating, the couple drove to the Racine Kwik Trip late that night in hopes to be engaged that same day.

“We entered the car wash not engaged, and we left engaged,” Julia said.

As Kwik Trip now seems to be a pinpoint of their relationship, we were curious if Erick and Julia would be including us on their wedding day… to which they agreed Glazers at the reception would make the most sense.

Congratulations to Erick and Julia!

Have you tried the newest Take Home Meals?

This summer, our stores have added a number of new Take home Meals that you hopefully have seen! We introduced Take Home Meals to our stores in October 2020, with 10 meals. These initial meals included comfort foods, like meatloaf, chicken fettuccine, and the turkey dinner. Kevin Buttner, the Food Research and Development Manager at Kwik Trip, said this summer, we plan to bring a new Take Home Meal to our stores every two weeks to keep our menu options remaining fresh and exciting.

Some of the Take Home Meals this summer has brought us include:

●Steak Ranchero Burrito

●Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese

●Mini Manicotti with Italian Sausage

●Loaded Mashed Potatoes

So far, the response to these meals has been excellent. Guests on social media have been complimentary, too!

“I had a sample of loaded potatoes yesterday. So good I had to buy one for supper.”
“I had the Buffalo Mac N Cheese last week, it was delicious!”
“The Steak Ranchero burrito is awesome!”
“Loaded mashed potatoes. Yum!”
“I literally just finished a Steak Ranchero Burrito and it was outstanding!”

This positive feedback makes us hopeful and ecstatic for the new Take Home Meals in weeks to come! “The future of the Take Home Meal program is ever changing and exciting,” Buttner said. “We strive to provide our guests with high quality, great tasting meals at a value, so we will continue to evaluate ingredients and recipes to ensure we are doing just that.”

Hot Spot Hazy back on shelves this week!

MADISON, Wis. — After a successful launch in the early days of the pandemic in 2020, Kwik Trip has once again teamed up with Karben4 Brewing to bring back the Hot Spot Hazy IPA, just in time for the warm summer days ahead. The beer will be delivered in 4-packs to Kwik Trip stores starting Monday, May 17th.

The re-release of Hot Spot Hazy IPA continues the partnership between Kwik Trip and Karben4, which also includes this past winter’s Urge Tracker peanut butter stout and the 2019 release of Glazer Bean, a doughnut and coffee-inspired beer.

Zak Koga, owner of Karben4, considers the Hot Spot Hazy to be among the best IPA beers that his brewery has every produced.

“We had great feedback on Hot Spot during its first release,” said Koga. “Many of our fans, our team, and our families claim it as their favorite K4 beer and have been asking us regularly when or if we will bring it back. I am thrilled to be able to make all of those people happy today with its re-release into the world.”

The beer has a hazy yellow appearance, hence the name, and has a definite tropical aroma with notes of pineapple in the sweet, malt body and a slightly dry, bitter finish as you may expect from an IPA. With a second year to perfect the recipe, Koga said that Karben4 was able to try some new hopping techniques to make it even better.

“When you first drink this beer you can imagine a wave of pineapple juice landing on a beach of malty sweetness. If hops and fruit juice had a love-child, this is it!” said Koga. “We hope you enjoy the result as much as we do!”

And with a name like Hot Spot Hazy, Koga said that the beer would go perfect with one of Kwik Trip’s signature offerings.

“I would pick fried chicken with any hot sauce as my pairing of choice with Hot Spot Hazy,” Koga said.. “The contrast in fresh tropical aroma, sweet malt body, and crunchy fried chicken (with some spice) I find to be a perfect food experience!”

Look for this offering in stores at Kwik Trip this week (check the delivery schedule here), and check out more about Karben4 Brewing here.
